Carolina Juniors lose Karen Ferree Trophy to Georgia |

The
second Georgia-South Carolina Girls’ Junior Challenge Match took place
August 4-5 at Berkeley Hall in Bluffton, SC. Sponsored by the WSCGA
Vicki Hillen Junior Golf Foundation and the Georgia State Golf Association;
the matches bring together the top junior girl golfers in the two
neighboring states. Teams are composed of the top four finishers from
each state’s 2007 Girls’ Championship. The two-day event consists
of four singles matches per day. The tournament’s format changed to
awarding three points for each match: one for the front nine, one
for the back nine and one for overall. Both teams are awarded a half
point for matches that are all square. Matches were worth only one
point last year when After
nabbing a comeback victory last year, Playing for the honor of holding The Karen Ferree Trophy for the year, the South Carolina team was represented by 2007 Junior Girls’ Champion Meredith Few from Aiken, Alex Rankin of Anderson, Taylor Weaver from Spartanburg, and Cayci Ruppe from Gaffney. Representing the winning Georgia team were Mariah Stackhouse from Riverdale, Kathryn Fowler of Americus, Yugene Lee from Athens , and Lindsay Adams from Lawrenceville. |
