Lauren Hunt of Little River won the 2004 WSCGA Junior Girls’ Championship. Beginning the last 18 holes of the tournament, Lauren was trailing two day leader Richelle Wedzik by 5 shots and was 4 shots behind Emily Rapp. After two days of horrible conditions caused by 10 inches of rain, the final round started under sunny skies and freshly mowed fairways; exactly what Hunt favored. Finishing the final day with a 1 under par 71, Hunt passed Wedzik by three strokes and Rapp by five in a close competition.

The Women’s South Carolina Golf Association would like to thank Callawassie Island Club, Junior Girls Chair, Cathy Hill, along with Nannie Ward and Audrey Goss for all of their assistance in making the 2004 Championship a special one. The girls were lucky to be able to enjoy such a beautiful, extremely difficult par 72, 5808 Callawassie Island layout.
