Hightower-Brown & Knapp-Knapp Capture Titles
Bubba Hightower and Lea Anne Brown teamed for victory shooting an even par score
of 142 and a one shot win over two other teams in the 2004 Mixed Team
Championship. In the Senior Division, Sandy and Ronnie Knapp won a three-hole
playoff over David Bowers and Karin Wolfe.
Hightower and Brown, from Moncks Corner and Mt. Pleasant, shot a final round
score of 72 in an alternate shot format to secure their victory in the
Championship Division. The team combined for 15 pars, 2 bogies and 1 birdie
beating the two second place teams of Cathy Hill (Gaston) and Evan Schiltz (W.
Columbia) and Steven Agazzi (Charleston) and Sara Youngner (Seabrook Island).
Sandy and Ronnie Knapp, both from Callawassie, made par on the third playoff
hole to beat Karin Wolfe of Lexington and David Bowers of Easley after tying
with a total score of 147.
The 2004 SCGA~WSCGA Mixed Team Championship is being played on the par 71,
George Cobb designed South Carolina National Golf Club in Beaufort, SC. The
field consisted of 90 man and woman teams split into Championship and Senior
Divisions. The Mixed Team Championship is conducted by both the Women’s South
Carolina Golf Association and the South Carolina Golf Association and is in its
7th year of existence.
