2007 WSCGA JUNIOR GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP

Local favorite, 17 year old Meredith Few, won her first WSCGA Junior Girls’ Championship at Houndslake Country Club in Aiken. Finishing the 54 hole championship tied with friend and next year’s college teammate Alex Rankin it took Meredith two playoff holes to secure the title. Along with her first state championship title, Meredith earned the honor of participating in the GA/SC Challenge Matches to be held at Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton August 4^th and 5^th. Finishing in third place was defending champion Taylor Weaver from Spartanburg. Along with Few, Rankin and Weaver, fourth place finisher Cayci Ruppe from Gaffney will round out the four player SC Team that will compete against the top four finishers in the Georgia Junior Girls’ Championship. In the nine hole division for players 10-12, Christina Foster from Summerville was the winner shooting 41 in the final round for a 27 hole total of 120.

The Women’s South Carolina Golf Association would like to thank Houndslake Country Club and staff, Golf Professional Randy Few and his wife Susan, and Junior Girls Chair Cathy Hill, along with the many volunteers for their assistance in making the 2007 Championship a special one. The girls were lucky to be able to enjoy such a well maintained and difficult par 72, 5834 Houndslake layout.
