Karen Ferree of Hilton Head Island made a 45 foot birdie putt from the fringe on the first playoff hole to win the 2005 WSCGA Senior Championship. Ferree held a three-stroke advantage over Jennifer Adams from Bluffton going into the final round of the 36 hole Championship. Karen never lost the lead, but Adams’ birdie on the par-3 17^th hole pulled her to within one shot heading to the 18^th hole. Ferree made a rare mistake by pushing her tee shot on the 18^th into a lateral hazard on the right side of the fairway. After taking a penalty drop, she punched out of the rough 100 yards short of the green and then hit her approach 25 feet from the hole. Her bogey putt missed and she finished the round with a double bogey six. Adams had the opening she had been looking for, but could not take advantage when she chunked a 6-iron approach short of the green. She failed to make par, but sank a 4-foot putt to force the playoff. The second place finish was Jennifer’s second in a row in WSCGA events. She and partner Wallace Hamerton were the runner-up team in the WSCGA Team Championship which was also decided with a playoff finish.

Ann Potts from Columbia won the Super-Senior Division. Other flight champions include Charlotte Stewart from Taylors, Cynthia Odell of Hilton Head, and Ginny Costa also from Hilton Head.
