AMATEUR COMPETITIONS AND MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIPS |
Requirements for WSCGA Major Championship Participation
Six Major Championships are conducted by the WSCGA. Requirements for
participation in these events are:
Must be a permanent legal resident of the state of South
Carolina for at least six months prior to the championship. Must
be an amateur woman* whose Women’s Golf Association is a regular
or associate member of the WSCGA.

OR
Must be an amateur woman with a Handicap-Index issued by the
Handicap Program of the Carolinas and pays individual WSCGA
Tournament dues.
All girls junior or collegiate, who are
dependents of members of our member associations or clubs, and have
a handicap-index issued by the Handicap Program of the Carolinas,
are considered eligible.
WSCGA Major Championships include these specific requirements:
- STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP: Handicap requirements
must meet the field limit with the lowest handicap given first
consideration.
- SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP: Participants must be
a least 50 years of age, and handicap requirements must meet
the field limit with the lowest handicap given first consideration.
- MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP: There is no
handicap-index limit other than that imposed by the USGA.
Thirty-two places will be held for the low handicap players.
- TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: 36.0 is the maximum individual
handicap-index for entry
- SCGA/WSCGA MIXED TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP:
Open to members of the SCGA and the WSCGA.
- JUNIOR GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIP: Open to
all female amateur golfers who will not reach their 19th
birthday by midnight of the last day of the event.
