SC
64 teams competed in the 14th annual WSCGA State Team Championship
at Woodside Plantation in Aiken on March 25th and 26th.
The opening round four-ball format was played on Woodside’s
Cupp Course and the final round modified alternate shot
format were contested on Woodside’s Jones Course
Defending Team Champion Wallace Hamerton from Bluffton
had to find a new partner for the 2010 Team Championship.
Her partner of 2009, Lea Anne Brown had a previous commitment
and was able to help Wallace defend the title. But, no problem,
Wallace and new partner Dawn Woodard from Greer went on
to win the 2010 with two consecutive rounds of 69, a total
of 138 to finish 8 shots ahead of the runner-up team of
Sue Churchich of Bluffton and Karen Ferree from Hilton Head.
Finishing third was Lea Venable from Simpsonville and Cecelia
Barksdale of Murrells Inlet with a two round total of 150.
Flight champions include: 2nd flight: Kay Hall/Jan Bowers;
3rd flight: Carol Morenc/Christine Wingeier; 4th flight:
Barbara Roat/Brenda Lozen; 5th flight: Patricia Sullivan/Cindy
Niland; 6th flight: Judy Sanders/Linda Johnson.
