The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek appoints New Director of Golf

Johns Island, South Carolina January 7, 2014

The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek announced today the appointment of Eve VanderWeele as Director of Golf. Eve has worked with Briar’s Creek for over 5 years as its teaching professional and replaces Chris Edwards who has accepted a position at Daniel Island.

“Eve is highly regarded by members for her professional abilities, her golf experience, and her outstanding teaching skills,” said John Carifa, Briar’s Creeks’ managing partner “We are very pleased she is taking on this additional role for the club.”

“Eve has been a wonderful mentor to our women’s golf team over the past few years. Her teaching experience along with her passion for golf and the team has been invaluable to our success. I know that she will use that passion and experience to continue the success of The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek” said Joe Hull Athletic Director at The College of Charleston.

Eve is a third generation PGA professional born and raised in Poughkeepsie New York. She is an accomplished player, winning the 1995 NY State Amateur title and the Metropolitan Open in 1996. She competed in three USGA Junior Championships and four USGA Women’s Amateur Championships, and played for the college of Charleston from 1993 to 1997. Eve was All Conference TAAC team player each year. She competed professionally from 1998 through 2003 and in the 2001 US Open at Pine Needles. From 1998 through 2002 Eve was Assistant Professional at Bonita Bay Club in Bonita Springs, Florida. From 2003 to 2007 Eve was Co-Professional at Glendarin Hills Golf Club in Angola, Indiana.

Eve will continue to serve as Assistant Women’s Golf Coach at the College of Charleston. She was inducted into the College of Charleston Hall of Fame in 2012.

“I am very excited about this opportunity and have many ideas for enhancing the golf experience at Briar’s Creek,” said Ms. VanderWeele.

Ms. VanderWeele’s team will include her husband Greg VanderWeele, who will manage the men’s golf programs at Briar’s Creek. Greg served with Eve as Co-Professional at Glendarin Hills Golf Club and has most recently worked at the Kiawah Island resort.
