We hope you are looking forward to spring that is just around the corner.
Event opening PSA: Events open at 9 am Monday 6 weeks before the event (Tuesday if that Monday is a holiday). Some of our high-demand events fill up in less than 5 minutes. Each member of a team must already have a WSCGA profile when registering a team. If not, their profile will not populate when registering and your team will be at risk of being shut out for that event. We look forward to seeing you at an event this spring.

Remembering a Pioneer

First WSCGA Executive Director Passes Peacefully
Inez was the first Women's' South Carolina Golf Association's Executive Director, from 1986 to her retirement in 2012. Inez will leave behind a legacy that will forever shape South Carolina Women's golf. Her contributions were not only instrumental in the growth of the sport but also in fostering a sense of unity and cam araderie among women golfers in South Carolina.

2023 WSCGA-JUNIOR GOLF FOUNDATION HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (September 29- October 1, 2023) - The Women's South Carolina Golf Association - Junior Golf Foundation (WSCGA-JGF) has chosen Hilton Head's Moss Creek Golf Club to hold the 2023 WSCGA-JGF High School Invitational, September 29-October 1. Top-ranked teams and individuals from throughout the state will compete over 36 holes in two days on the George Fazio-designed Devil's Elbow South Course. Officials expect a 72-player field.

2023 GA/SC Jr Girls Challenge Matches The Cliffs @ Mountain Park

It was a beautiful weekend at the The Cliffs Mountain Park Course in Marietta, SC. The greens were perfect, fairways plush and tight. The members were out in full force cheering on both teams at the 18th GA/SC/ Junior Girls Challenge Matches.

Pardus Secures 4th WSCGA Senior Championship; Washington wins Legends Division

Championship Division

The final round of the 2023 WSCGA Senior Women's Championship was exciting to say the least. The weather was sunny with clear skies and a steady double digit wind all day. It was a battle out there in all divisions with leads changing throughout the day. In the Championship Division, Pardus came into the final round with a three shot lead over Kerry Rutan.

What started out as a cool morning finished with a steady 17 mph breeze with gusts up to over 30mph throughout the day. Setting up a challenging day at the beautiful Grande Dunes Member Club in Myrtle Beach. The course fairways were playing hard and fast with the greens rolling steady.

2023 Palmetto Cup Championship

Congratulations to the ladies at Barefoot Resort - Dye Club for winning the 2023 Palmetto Cup Championship!

It was a beautiful day at The International Club in Murrells Inlet for the 2023 WSCGA Palmetto Cup Championship. The field consisted of 20 teams and 120 players on the challenging course with fairways firm and fast greens as smooth as a table top. All the teams battled until the end with the final points coming down to the match between Cindy Delong and Diane Minihane from Barefoot Resort - Dye Club verse Deborah Casey and Sheila Moses from Dunes West Golf Club to win the Championship.

The final round of the 2023 WSCGA Team Championship at Darlington Country Club was thrilling.

he WSCGA will host 4 evening socials the night before a scheduled WSCGA One Day for the "new" lady golfers in the area. We want to encourage all new women members/golfers to come meet new people and learn about the WSCGA. The scheduled socials are: March 26th - Lancaster, April 26th - Aiken, May 8th - Anderson, and June 6th - Charleston.
The day turned out to be beautiful after a 30 minute frost delay, a high of 64 degrees, and a format of Modified Alternate shot. Lea Venable/Skye Two Hawks Skenandore went into the final round with a 5 shot lead over the team of Jayne Pardus and Emily Rapp.

Congratulations to the 2022 WSCGA Player of the Year Lea Venable

Upstate's Lea Venable had a consistent year on her way to securing her 2nd WSCGA Player of the Year Award (first in 2017). Lea won the 2022 Walton Horton and Jeanne Campbell WSCGA Match Play Championship over 8 time Player of the Year Dawn Woodard. Won the WSCGA Team Championship with partner Skye Two Hawks Skenadore. Finished T11th in the South Carolina Women's Open presented by The Town of Blythewood.

Bob Handler Foundation Scholarship

Presented by WSCGA Junior Golf Foundation

The WSCGA Junior Golf Foundation is proud to announce the opportunity to receive a $3,000 scholarship to any junior girl golfer who is a South Carolina resident and fulfills the required eligibility criteria. The Bob Handler Foundation Scholarships will be awarded annually. The scholarships will consist of three (3) individual $3,000 scholarships to support female golfers in pursuit of higher educational opportunities.

2022 Cross State Shootout Champions Up Country - 13-7

The final round of the 2022 Cross State Shootout at Yeamans Hall Club started out with crisps air and sunny skies. The Low Country Team hosted and provided the most gracious hospitality during the 2022 Cross State Shootout!

We have had an exciting three days at Southern Oaks Golf Course for the 2022 Match Play Championship. We had brisk mornings followed by warm sunshine. From evening socials with live entertainment to days of great golf, these ladies have sure had a fun week. Not only did we continue our competition play, today for the last round we had a crier's tournament that contained 3 foursomes playing a scramble. Let's see who rose to the top in all of our divisions!

This week we are spending Monday-Wednesday at Southern Oaks Golf Course in Easley, South Carolina for the Walton Horton and Jeanne Campbell Match Play Championship. They are hosting 28 wonderful golfers and we couldn't ask for more beautiful coastal weather. We started the morning off early at 9:00am! Let's see how everyone finished round 1.

Dorman Wins 2022 WSCGA - JGF High School Invitational

The 2022 WSCGA JGF High School Invitational was played at CC of South Carolina with two days of perfect weather. Dorman High School finished first with a team total of 648 to win by 8 strokes. The team was led by Abby Franks who fired a 70-75=145 and finished Runner up in the Individual standings to Ella Stalvey from Blythewood HS. Maddie Grace Peake finished T14th with a 79-77=156 for the tournament with teammates Londyn Rath (159), Ann Claire Peake (94), and Ava Romansky (94).

South Carolina Women's Open Final Round

The WSCGA South Carolina Women's Open has come to a close. What a wonderful week we have had!

We had an amazing turn out of 120 players for the Pro-AM on Thursday afternoon, that was followed by a a private show from Keith Burns. Saturday afternoon we closed out the Senior Division with 2 Champions, Denise Killeen and Catherine Shealy.

Round 2 of the South Carolina Women's Open was beyond exciting!

With the heat taking a day off and offering a nice breeze, the ladies played some of their best rounds. The Senior division came to a close this afternoon and let's see who became champions!

2022 GA/SC Junior Girls Challenge Matches 26 pts - 10 pts

The first day Georgia lead was too much for the Team SC to overcome as Georgia claimed their first win in four years at the GA/SC Junior Girls Challenge Matches. This years event was hosted at the exquisite Ford Field and River Club in Richmond Hill, GA.

The South Carolina Team jumped out to to a 3.5-2.5 point lead after the front nine in the 17th Annual GA/SC Junior Girls Challenge Matches played at the prestigious Ford Field and River Club. The Georgia Team stormed back to win 5 matches on the back nine to capture 9.5 points to now hold a commanding 12-6 lead heading into the 2nd round.

15 year old - Madison Messimer Repeats win 2022 WSCGA Junior Girls State Championship Title

Madison Messimer from The Dunes Golf & Beach Club went into today's final round with a fourteen shot lead and didn't slow down posting her third consecutive round in the 60's with a 4 under 68 for her final round and a three day total of sixteen under 200.

The second round of the 2022 Junior Girls Championship at Arcadian Shores Golf Club in Myrtle Beach was overcast with a slight breeze, perfect for some fantastic golf being played. Round 1 leader Madison Messimer held onto the lead by firing a five under 67 for a two day total of 12 under going into the final round.

Messimer takes early lead in WSCGA Junior Girl's State Amateur Championship

It was a great day at Arcadian Shores Golf Club without a cloud in the sky and the course perfectly manicured for some great golf. Playing in the rabbit group of the day was Maddison Messimer who posted a career round of seven under 65 to take the lead. In her process of going low, Messimer carded 9 birdies and two bogies for the day.

Karlee Vardas wins the 74th WSCGA State Amateur Championship

The final round of the WSCGA State Amateur Championship at Ft Jackson Golf Club on the Old Hickory Course was exciting to say the least. Going into the final round the title was within the grasps of numerous players all the way til the last putt dropped on the 18th hole.

Rutan and Yacovone take Senior Championship Titles

Kerry Rutan showed up ready to compete. Taking the first round lead with a 77, Rutan was determined to hold onto her lead and secure her first WSCGA Senior Championship title.

Liz Yacovone from The Cliffs Club secured her first Senior Legends Championship by edging out Cathy Martin. Yacovone squeaked out a one shot victory over Martin from Seabrook Island Club.

What started out as a cool morning day finished with the sun beaming bright on our talented field at the Mt Vintage Plantation and Golf Club. The course fairways were playing soft in some spots but overall allowing a lot run on the drives with the greens rolling smooth and fast. Taking the first round lead in the WSCGA Senior Championship was Kerry Rutan from Daniel Island posting a 77 for the day.

WSCGA Board of Governors Changes

On June 2, 2022, Terrie Allemang resigned as President of the WSCGA. We thank Terrie for her dedication, service and leadership while serving on the WSCGA Board of Governors as President Elect, WSCGA Junior Golf Foundation Board appointee, as well as President.

The WSCGA will continue to move forward in our mission of "Promoting and Serving the Best Interests of Women's Golf in South Carolina."

Seabrook Island Club Wins Palmetto Cup Championship

Congratulations to the ladies at Seabrook Island Club for defending their title and winning the 2022 Palmetto Cup Championship!


It was a beautiful day at Country Club of Spartanburg for the Annual WSCGA Palmetto Cup Championship. The field consisted of 20 teams and 120 players on the challenging Country Club of Spartanburg with greens as smooth and fast as a table top. The format is a two person best ball match play nassau, gross, with 2 points front, 2 points back, and 2 point total up for grabs in each match. Each team has 6 players competing for a team total of 18 points possible.

Skenandore/Venable won Championship - Burton/Swit won State Division


The final round of the 2022 WSCGA Team Championship at Forest Lake Club was thrilling. The day was tough with consistent 15 mph winds and a formant of Modified Alternate shot. Skye Two Hawks Skenandore/Lea Venable went into the final round 2 shots behind the leaders, Jayne Pardus/ Kerry Rutan, but that didn't keep them from playing hard.

Team Lee Burton and Dawn Swit had a great first round of 68 to give them a four shot lead going into the final round of the 2022 WSCGA Championship State Division. Burton's and Swit's consistency proved to be untouchable in the final round by posting another under par round (71) to extend their lead and take the State Division Championship with a two day total of 5 under 139.

What a beautiful day at Forest Lake Club in Columbia; sunny, slight breeze, and a lot of great shots hit by our Championship field. There is a tight race going on in all five flights of the field. Leading the first round of the Championship Division, with only one of two rounds posted under par, carding a 70 is the team of Jayne Pardus and Kerry Rutan. Just 2 shots back is the team of Lea Venable and Skye Two Hawks Skenandore (72).

Georgia Repeats Peach-Palmetto Women's Showdown Win

The course played a little tougher going into the final round of the Peach-Palmetto Women's Showdown with a nice steady 10mph breeze. Both teams came out of the shoot ready to battle keeping all matches close to even through most of the front nine. However, at the turn, team GA regrouped and started throwing darts at pins to start closing out matches.

Three SC players swept their matches for Team SC. They were Kerry Rutan, Pam Prescott, Dawn Woodard, scoring 2 1/2 Rachel Wyatt and taking half a point was Lea Venable. Unfortunately, not enough to take home the trophy.

Day one of double matches (36 holes) ended well and the weather was perfect, a beautiful cloud free high 70's day. Both teams were ready to compete and represent their respective states with pride and ambition. The first round of matches for the day was a Four-ball match play nassau format playing for one point on front, back and total.
